Significant changes is made in the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law.

You may find below the changes in the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law.
The conditions of transition to Turkish citizenship have been changed with the Regulation on the Implementation of the Turkish Citizenship Law (“Regulation”) published in the Official Gazette dated January 6, 2022 and numbered 31711.

1. According to the Regulation, the minimum amount of US Dollars required to acquire citizenship is defined as 'Dollar equivalent of another foreign currency'.

2. Foreigners who want to acquire citizenship are obliged to sell their foreign currency through Turkish banks to the Central Bank for this real estate, which will amount to at least 250 thousand dollars, when they purchase a real estate.

3. The 'condition for keeping deposits in Turkish banks', which is defined as at least 500 thousand dollars, has been changed and this amount must be exchanged at the Central Bank through banks.

4. To follow up the process regarding citizenship applications, a commission may be established within the Ministry of Interior, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, Industry and Technology. The procedures and principles to be applied in determining whether the investment conditions in the scope and amount specified for obtaining citizenship are met will be determined by the institution making the determination.
