Dündar & Sır is proud to announce that it has been selected as the "Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year"

Istanbul Bilgi University in association with Istanbul Bar Association, honored Dündar & Sır at a reception at Santral campus, naming it the Pro Bono Law Firm of the Year, an award given only one law firm every year, for its work promoting the rights of refugees and Performers’ Union workers. This honor is due in large part to the hard work of Selim Dündar, Bertan Sır, Burcu Tanç and the others on behalf of our clients.

The award ceremony took place in Istanbul Bilgi University Santral Campus and the Award was presented by Turgut Tarhanlı, the Vice Dean of Istanbul Bilgi University, to our partner Mr. Selim Dündar and Mr. Bertan Sır on behalf of our law firm.

Our team, throughout the year 2017, has provided legal support to various non-profit entities such as the Performer’s Union, Refugee Rights Turkey, Teknopark İstanbul, Anadolu University Legal Clinic Institution, AFS Volunteers Association of Turkey and to their beneficiaries. Our team has also took initiatives to the betterment of the legal grounds of Pro Bono works in Turkey before public authorities.

What is ‘Pro bono’?

Pro bono publico (meaning “for the public good”; usually shortened as pro bono) is a Latin phrase for voluntary and non-profit professional work.

Legal pro bono services are voluntarily provided by lawyers, voluntarily and without remuneration. NGOs and their beneficiaries thereby obtain legal services, mainly comprised of litigation, legal counselling and drafting of legal documents.
